Q: How can I find out when I first signed up for SBP (the year) so that I can plan for when my 30 years of contributions have been completed and I can discontinue paying premiums?

A: Thank you for your decades of service! As you apparently know, once you've attained at least age 70 and have paid Survivor Benefits Plan premiums for 30 years you'll be off the hook! Most folks begin paying for SBP upon retirement, but if you have questions I would recommend you contact DFAS and get your answers from the horse's mouth! The phone number for retiree pay questions is 800-321-1080. Good luck!
